Battling is and likely always will be, the essence of pokemon. With no way of evading the inevitable confrontations Trainers will face during their exploits here at Tokari, I have established these rules and guidelines to simplify the combat experience while still being marginally similar to the progression rate that we want our members to have on the forum. This set of rules and guidelines are to be followed without question. If alterations to these rules are to be made they will be done so at our discretion and an update will be issued to all members concerning the necessary changes. If you find a problem with these rules you are free to inquire or state your opinion and whether or not it is put to use is a decision only the head administrator can make.
Battling regulations:
- For TRAINING threads, the user can request a MOD to play an NPC to battle with or they can challenge another member to battle.
- Whether it is a gym battle or a battle between trainers, a moderator must be supervising the thread in order to keep avoid problems concerning powerplay and abuse of other measures.
- When a user creates or is challenged to a battle they must post in the Mod Thread, which is located here. Doing so will notify the Tokari staff that your thread is in need of an overseer and someone will edit your post and place their name to signify that they are watching your battle. From there you may commence.
- Both trainers will select their first pokemon. To be fair and true to the pokemon games/animated series, the users must each send a private message to the supervising mod with the pokemon they will be selecting before posting. This way no one is at an obvious disadvantage. [You only need to do this for your first choice]
- The person to start the thread has the honors of first move unless they relinquish that position to their opponent.
- For every post only one move can be performed and it must be understandable as well as slightly vague considering whether or not it hits is up to your opponent.
- Each Trainer is allowed three dodges per pokemon, however not only will evading an attack cost a turn to perform, but it also lowers their reaction time to the next assault made against them. The more dodges you perform the higher the risk of being hit – consuming all three dodges with one pokemon will result in a critical hit.
- You cannot switch a pokemon out to evade an attack. You CAN switch a pokemon out when it is your turn but in doing so you forfeit that turn to do so.
